SERVO PRESS FEED TO WORK

Dallas Industries, Inc. (Troy, MI) has finalized an order from a major mid-west appliance manufacturing facility with the shipment and installation of one of its TUFFservTM model servo driven press feed systems. Especially designed, proportioned and priced for smaller sized stamping applications, the TUFFserv unit, a model DRFE-312, features full width 3" diameter feed rolls, 12" maximum stock width to 0.156" thickness capacity, and feed length control to +0.003" accuracy. For this application, the unit was equipped with a press mounting bracket incorporating a hand crank adjustment allowing for up to 8" of movement for suitable alignment with various die heights.

In spite of its economics, the unit still provides cluster gear drives for both rolls, feed rolls mounted in anti-friction bearings and a chrome finish for long wear capabilities with excellent stock grip. It also has hardened and ground precision entry guides, remote jog pendant and dual pneumatic cylinders for roll close and open. The drive and control features AC brushless servo motor, full control programmability and on-board memory/recall of up to 200 different parts with Dallas Smart Control package, and user adjustable acceleration rates for handling thin, delicate materials. TUFFserv feed controls interface with most OEM and aftermarket press controls.

The TUFFserv series from Dallas encompasses four model packages: An economy series with six stock capacities from .156" x 6" (thickness x width) to .042" x 36"; an economy series with a pull-thru straightener from .070" x 6" to .035" x 36"; a performance series with six stock capacity sizes from .200" x 6" to .075" x 36"; a performance series with a pull-thru straightener with six stock capacities from .125" x 6" to .066" x 36". 5, 7, 9, and 11 roll combinations are available for standard or custom applications.

In addition, TUFFserv press feed systems incorporate a non-stretch timing belt, power disconnect switch and circuit breaker in the control panel, pneumatic pilot pin release, and an integral three-roll curved stock support with overhead trap-roll at the entry point of the feed system.
