CUT-TO-LENGTH PRESS FEED
PROVIDES ECONOMY, PRODUCTIVITY
A Monterey, Mexico manufacturing facility has implemented a cost effective and
productivity enhancing system for producing its shelving elements used in refrigerated
supermarket display cases. The system, a new press feed line for transforming
coil stock to cut-to-length blanks is from Dallas Industries, Inc. of Troy, MI.
The fully automated line includes a powered, coil handling reel with load
car, a servo feed featuring
a simple Allen Bradley touch screen control, a pull-thru straightener to remove
residual bend from the material, a shear for cutting the stock, an integrated
hydraulic press for notching the panels plus a destacking/stacking unit. Prior
to the Dallas system's acquisition, the company purchased blanks from an outside
source, then fed them into the press for notching. With the Dallas line in place,
company personnel anticipate equipment payback, by eliminating the purchase costs
and reducing operational costs of handling the blanks, to be as short as two
years.
The coil reel provides a load capacity of up to 12,000 lbs. and is for materials
to 51" wide. The traveling load car allows for prestaging coils for fast
loading and minimum downtime. The reel unit also includes a coil restrictor roller
that prevents coils from springing open when shipping bands are cut, and a threading
table for easier loading alignment.
The Dallas servo feed incorporates a 15 HP and two 6" diameter, full width
(51") feed rolls. Mounted on the entry end of the feed is a pull-thru straightener
that, with its 9 rollers of
3-1/2” diameter, removes coil curvature and provides blanks that are flat.
The shear/notcher, integrated with a hydraulic press, notches the blanks utilizing
a die. The destacker handles up to 6000lb. at 51” widths and stacks finished
pieces for easy removal.
In addition to cut-to-length blanking press lines, Dallas Industries' provides
press feed and coil handling systems with precision servo feeds, air feeds, powered
straighteners and pull-thru straighteners, a wide selection of coil reels and
cradles, plus auxiliary line equipment and control options…up to the Pressmaster
CNC. Also available is Dallas' exclusive SpaceSaverTM feed line—saving
from 1/3 to 1/2 the floor space required by conventional feed lines.
